Story

Show how one walkthrough recording produces both a captioned tutorial video and an illustrated step-by-step guide in the Steps tab, and how Replace with Recording… updates a single changed step later without re-recording from the start.

Scene 1. Walk through the workflow once (0:00–0:11)

  • On screen. The user records an onboarding walkthrough in Window mode, opening menus and sheets and explaining each step out loud.
  • Narration. "Walk through the workflow once at a comfortable pace. Screen Recording captures every menu, popover, and spoken word on separate tracks."
  • Capture notes. Include a silent stretch where the user types into a form field.

Scene 2. Clean up speech without cutting screen work (0:11–0:23)

  • On screen. In the editor, the user opens Clean Up Speech… and clicks Apply. Filler words and dead air disappear while the silent typing chip stays intact.
  • Narration. "Clean Up Speech removes filler words and dead air in one pass while keeping every moment where you clicked, typed, moved the pointer, or switched apps."
  • Capture notes. Highlight the preserved action chip in the transcript.

Scene 3. Generate the illustrated guide in Steps (0:23–0:36)

  • On screen. The user opens the Steps tab and chooses Write a Guide. Numbered instructions appear with rendered step pictures and click focus rings. The user exports HTML, Markdown, and PDF alongside translated captions.
  • Narration. "In the Steps tab, turn the same recording into an illustrated written guide with step pictures, ready to export as HTML, Markdown, or PDF."
  • Capture notes. Show the focus ring highlighting the clicked button in each step picture.

Scene 4. Update a changed step with Replace with Recording (0:36–0:50)

  • On screen. Having recorded a short pickup take for a changed dialog, the user selects the outdated sentence in the original tutorial's transcript, chooses Replace with Recording…, picks the pickup recording in the sheet, clicks Replace to splice the updated screen and voice into place, and updates the step in the Steps tab.
  • Narration. "When a screen changes in a later release, record a short pickup take, use Replace with Recording to splice it into the tutorial, and update the step in the guide."
  • Capture notes. Show the updated step picture in the Steps tab matching the pickup take.
