Frequently asked questions
Review note. The system audio answer is taken from the product design. The rest are drafts written to match the product facts, and they need product review.
Can I get it now?
Not yet. Screen Recording is coming soon. There is no download and no public beta. The answers below describe the product at launch.
Does it record system audio?
Yes. Screen Recording records system audio and your microphone at the same time, on separate tracks, so you can adjust either one later.
Is there a watermark or time limit?
No. Recordings have no watermark and no time limit, including during the free trial.
Do I need an account or subscription?
No. There is nothing to sign up for. Download the app, record, and you're done. The only sign-in involved is your own iCloud account, which the app uses if you choose to share a link.
Where are my recordings stored?
On your Mac, as ordinary files. Nothing is uploaded unless you share a recording, and shared recordings go to your iCloud storage, not to our servers. We don't have servers.
How does editing by transcript work?
The app transcribes your recording on your Mac as you record. In the editor, the transcript and the timeline stay in sync. Select a sentence in the transcript and delete it, and that section is cut from the video. A single command removes filler words like "um" and "you know" throughout the recording. Captions follow every edit automatically.
What does it require?
macOS 26 or later. Transcription runs on device, so no internet connection is needed to record or edit. Sharing a link requires an iCloud account; exporting an MP4 does not.
