Camera and captions

Add a camera bubble and move or resize it at any time. Captions are generated on your Mac and follow your edits.

Camera bubble

Turn on your camera and it appears as a bubble over the recording. Move it or resize it when it covers something you need to show, while you record and again in the editor afterward. The camera is composited when you export, so repositioning it later does not require a re-record.

Automatic captions

Captions come from the same on-device transcript used for transcript editing. They appear without any extra step. Because they come from the transcript, three things follow.

  • Every cut you make keeps captions in sync. Delete a sentence and its caption is removed too.
  • Fixing a transcription error fixes the caption.
  • Nothing is sent to a captioning service. The speech model runs on your Mac.

Captions in exports

Captions are an export option. Burn them into the video so they show in every player, or export them as a separate SRT or VTT file for players and platforms that load captions on their own. A shared MP4 has them burned in when they show in the editor, and leaves them out when you hide them there. The original recording keeps the transcript, so you can change the caption text or style and export again. See sharing.
