The watermark detail

Camtasia's cheapest paid tier (Starter, ~$39/yr) still watermarks exports; removing the watermark starts at roughly $180/yr. Screen Recording never watermarks anything, including during the free trial.

Different jobs

The two products cover different jobs.

Producing courseware. Branded intros, quizzes, callout animations, and multi-language AI voice-over are Camtasia's actual job, and Screen Recording doesn't do them.
Recording your screen and narrating it. For demos, tutorials, bug reports, and team updates, a production suite is overhead. Record, cut the stumbles in the transcript, share a link or export a 4K MP4 with captions burned in. Done in minutes, $29 total, and nothing leaves your Mac in the process.
