Tutorials and how-to videos
A good tutorial is a clean walkthrough with clear narration. The recording part is easy; the time sink is editing out the wandering and producing captions. The transcript handles both.
The workflow
- Record the window or area where the task happens, so viewers see only what matters. Add a camera bubble if your videos have a host.
- Do the task and narrate it. If you open the wrong menu or take a detour, keep going. Each one is a sentence to remove later.
- Edit as text. Delete the detours from the transcript, remove filler words in one click, and make frame-level trims on the timeline where you need silence tightened.
- Publish. Export an MP4 up to 4K with captions burned in for YouTube or your help center, or share an iCloud link for internal docs.
The transcript is a second deliverable
Copy the transcript with timestamps and you have the written version of the tutorial. Paste it under the video in your docs so the steps are searchable, skimmable, and indexable. One recording produces both formats.

- 4K at 60 fps keeps small UI text readable after YouTube's compression.
- Captions follow edits, so re-cutting a section never desyncs them.
- Separate mic and system audio tracks let you keep app sounds audible under narration, or mute them entirely.
- No time limits. A 40-minute deep dive records the same as a 40-second clip.
