Screen Studio adds automatic zoom and smooth cursor effects to Mac recordings. Screen Recording zooms on your clicks and smooths the cursor too, and lets you cut spoken mistakes by editing the transcript and share the result with captions.

Pricing
Screen Studio sold one-time licenses, at $89 originally and later $149 and $229, until October 2025, when new customers were moved to subscription only. It costs $20 a month, or $9 a month billed yearly, about $108 a year.
Screen Recording is free, with every feature. Your recordings stay on your Mac as ordinary files.
Privacy
Both apps transcribe speech on your Mac. Screen Recording also edits and exports there, and works offline. It shares an MP4 file through the Mac share menu. The recipient needs no account. Screen Studio also offers hosted share links.
Other differences
Screen Studio includes motion blur and hosted sharing links. Both apps zoom in on clicks, smooth the cursor, and put the recording on a background in landscape, square, or vertical shapes.
