Story

Show how reproducing a bug once in Screen Recording lets you cut dead-end clicks in the transcript, cover customer data in Private Details, and generate a structured engineering ticket in the Steps tab with Observed, Expected, Possible Cause, and Not Shown in the Recording.

Scene 1. Capture the Reproduction (0:00–0:12)

  • On screen. The user starts a Window capture and reproduces a checkout bug, trying one wrong menu first before triggering the failure.
  • Narration. "Reproduce the bug once on your Mac. Screen Recording captures native Retina video alongside every click, keyboard shortcut, and window switch."
  • Capture notes. Show a child popover and console panel inside the recorded window.

Scene 2. Cut the Dead End by Its Action Chips (0:12–0:23)

  • On screen. In the editor, the transcript shows spoken words interleaved with [Clicked Billing] and [Pressed Cmd+R]. The user selects the dead-end sentence and its action chips and presses Delete.
  • Narration. "Delete the false start and its click chips right in the transcript so the video goes straight to the reproduction."
  • Capture notes. Show the timeline closing the gap with 10 ms audio fades across the join.

Scene 3. Cover Private Details (0:23–0:32)

  • On screen. The user opens Private Details, clicks Find, and covers a customer email address across the scrolling table.
  • Narration. "Use Private Details to cover customer emails or tokens across scrolling and zooms before the video leaves your Mac."
  • Capture notes. Show the opaque cover tracking the row as the table scrolls.

Scene 4. Generate the Bug Report in Steps (0:32–0:48)

  • On screen. The user opens the Steps tab and selects Write a Bug Report. Numbered steps with rendered Retina step pictures appear alongside Observed, Expected, Possible Cause, and Not Shown in the Recording. The user clicks Copy as Markdown to paste the report text into Linear, or exports self-contained HTML or PDF, then clicks Share in the toolbar and chooses Copy MP4 to attach the video.
  • Narration. "In the Steps tab, generate a structured bug report with rendered Retina step pictures, copy the Markdown or export HTML or PDF, and attach the MP4 straight into Linear or GitHub."
  • Capture notes. Hold briefly on the distinct Observed, Expected, and Possible Cause sections.
